It was built in 1849, in the first half of the 19th century, making it the 2nd oldest of the 19 in New Jersey with a recorded construction date; the tower stands about 40 feet tall (13th tallest of 13 measured in New Jersey); its light sits 43 feet above the water; the light characteristic is recorded as Iso W 6s, R sector (a white light, equally on and off, repeating every 6 seconds), with a range of about 9 nautical miles; it guards Delaware Bay; it was deactivated in 1941.
Status check, 2026-11: It used to be called Maurice River Light. It is New Jersey's second-oldest standing lighthouse. The tower sits on the roof of a Cape Cod–style house, and the light was relit in 1980 after restoration. East Point Light is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It stands at 39.1958° N, 75.0278° W.
